I chose to attend UTRGV because of the team atmosphere and the community. Being from a small town I was nervous to move to a larger city because I have never been in that type of atmosphere. Personally, I felt like Edinburg was a perfect size, it wasn't as big as Houston but was big enough to where I can drive 5 minutes to Starbucks.
Texas A&M Commerce was not a huge town either, but it was fairly close to Dallas which is a big city. It was also 6 hours away from my hometown versus UTRGV being four hours away. The thing that really solidified my decision on attending UTRGV was the scholarship. Being able to attend college without having to pay back loans or be in debt was my main goal.
Making this decision was not easy. There were a lot of factors that went into this decision. I needed to make sure that I would be happy in this place for four years, and that was a lot of weight to carry. After debating for a couple weeks between the pros and cons of both colleges, I made my final decision. As you can see, UTRGV was the place for me. I think the one thing that I really liked about the college was the team atmosphere. A team can make or break your experience at a college because they are the people you spend the most time with. Thankfully, I have had great teammates over the past four years, and because of them, I have made so many unforgettable memories.

Looking back, I would not change a thing. I am glad I decided to attend UTRGV. The Valley is a place that I will hold close to my heart. I have made lifelong friends, learned many lessons, and most of all was able to receive my degree and will be graduating as a first-gen.
